The prince Nikolay Uvarov belongs to one of the most ancient families of the nobility. And at the same time to a very rare in all times type of an intellectual artist.
The prince Uvarov, a graduate of the Latvian Academy of Art, finds his inspiration in the most unexpected spheres including Ray Bradbury's short stories and tale of Gilgamyesh. And he implements it with an irreproachable academic skill in the most different technique- oil and etching, engraving and watercolours, pencil, Indian ink. AU of a sudden cosmic lyrics is changed over to a biting political sarcasm, a tragic world perception to a generous Rablesian humour.
The sixtieth anniversary of his birth the prince Uvarov has approached inspired with new opportunities and ideas. Conceptional depth, rational satiation were followed by works breathing a spirit of irralional spontaneity. They are the moulds of subconscious archetypes, taking eilher purely abstract forms or an image of Riga's Pardaugava mansions.
So, the Orthodox prince, living in Protestant Riga, being sincerely in love with Musulman East, an eccentric erudite having a rare capacity for work and fantasy. This kind of personality seems to be very interesting outside Latvia as well. It is proved by purchases of his works made by collections from the USA, Germany, Israel. And one of his works belongs to Ray Bradbury's private collections.
